Better Bits and Bites

Bits_Bites

I always loved bits and bites as a kid, so I decided to make my own homemade version with some healthier choices. I combined Shreddies and Cheerios cereals with pretzels and goldfish crackers, along with some raisins and pumpkin seeds. This delicious mix is great for on-the-go in the car and to bring along on day-trips (I actually brought ziplocs full for the kids at a recent baseball game). The mix also does not include any nuts so it is safe for my children to take to school in their lunch containers. (Note: if you require completely nut-free due to allergies be sure to purchase your choice of labelled nut-free products in sealed packages).

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Shreddies Cereal
  • 1 cup Cheerios Cereal
  • 1 cup Goldfish Crackers
  • 1 cup Pretzels (any shape – twists or sticks)
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1/4 cup Pumpkin Seeds (I use raw unsalted)

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl that has a lid for storage. Adjust ingredient amounts to suit your taste and desired proportions.
  2. Portion out into containers for easy snacks during the week.
