Peaches on the Grill

007

Thursday is Peach Week Day 4! Here in Ontario we are lucky to have the most beautiful local peaches from the Niagara area. We even have a famous Peach Festival which is actually happening this weekend August 23-25 in Winona, Ontario. The Winona Peach Festival has been a tradition for 46 years and is a celebration of everything Peach! Check it out at www.winonapeach.com or their Facebook page.

So for day 4 of Peach Week I am bringing back a post from August 2011 for Grilled Peaches. This is a delicious and simple way to enjoy your peaches especially at the end of a great bbq dinner.

For 4 dessert portions you will need:

  • 4 medium-sized ripe peaches, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon of butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Place the quartered peaches in a large bowl, and add the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon and coat the peaches well with the mixture. With the barbecue heated to medium, place peaches on the grill and cook for 5 minutes per side until charred and carmelized (yum!). As you grill the peaches it will smell incredible! We enjoyed our grilled peaches simply with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream, but use your imagination to create your own luscious dessert.

I used to make something like this all the time during summer. I completely forgot how delicious it could be. Thanks for the reminder!
